Seniors Recognized at Season End

On Saturday, April 29, Lynchburg College’s Men’s Baseball team not only split a doubleheader with the Royals of Eastern Mennonite University but also honored their six seniors.

These six seniors consisted of catchers Ryan Hardy and Will Hylton, shortstop Ryan Katona and pitchers Chris Morelli, Logan Woodall and Zach Englemann. (more…)

Lacrosse Ladies Stomp Bridgewater

The Lynchburg College Women’s Lacrosse team is currently on a one-game winning streak after defeating Bridgewater College 10-5 during an away game on Saturday, April 22.

Gaining this win puts the Lady Hornets with an overall record of 8-5 and 4-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

This game followed the game between LC and Roanoke College that ended in overtime 10-9 with LC falling short in the end. (more…)

Help a Hornet Out

For Lynchburg College’s second annual Give Day on Thursday, April 6, anonymous donors have challenged the college to raise donations from 2,500 donors, and if this goal is reached, they will donate $75,000 to the college.

Donors can choose to give to a specific section or department of the school or give to the general Annual Fund. Donations must be a minimum of $5 and can be made online, on campus outside Schewel Hall or on the third floor of the Drysdale Student Center or by calling the Give Day’s phonathon. (more…)

Sports Junkie: Concussions Continue

We hear all the time in the sports world about concussions, but do people really understand what they are and how they can affect an athlete? According to the website for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury—or TBI—caused by a bump, blow or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. This sudden movement can cause the brain to bounce around or twist in the skull, stretching and damaging the brain cells and creating chemical changes in the brain.”

Field Hockey Brings It Home

The Lynchburg College Field Hockey team has been going through a rough patch. In their past three games, they have lost, but the team has pushed ahead and come out with a 6-2 score and a victory against Virginia Wesleyan on Sept. 24. In the 2016 ODAC pre-season poll, the LC Field Hockey team was ranked second.
