With the start of the new year comes the new semester, and for many of us it is our last.

I have spent three amazing years at this institution, waiting for this very semester, my very last, and it is a bit of a shock.

Preparation for this semester has mainly been about focusing on my senior thesis, the anthology project that all English majors must do.

I have been trying to find the perfect topic to write about, attempting to find the perfect sources, and I still feel entirely unprepared for the project.

Within the first two days of the semester starting I have realized that I truthfully am not in this alone, but much like every semester, I have to make changes and prioritize.

The first change to make is to set very healthy boundaries and standards with my friends and family, letting them know that this semester needs to be my best.

The second change will be to make time for fun and social activity, as the hard truth is I may not see a lot of my current friends for a while, taking time to make the memories I have not gotten the chance to is wildly important to me right now.

Finally, I realize I have to start getting my life together; graduation is coming quickly, I need a plan, a backup for that plan and people I can rely on.

I am looking forward to so much in this semester and dreading other things, but I know I have started to make the healthiest choices for myself, even if that means not talking to people or participating in certain things.

For those of you who are in your last semester, remember to take care of yourself, do not push too hard, and make the healthiest decisions you can.

I plan to finish strong and hope you all do the same.
