This weekend, Lynchburg eSports club president, senior Hannah Belayachi and her fellow gamers are extending the opportunity to all Lynchburg students to play games in the newly created esports room.
Located by the Pavilion, underneath the Rainsford Townhouses, the club offers many resources to aspiring gamers, especially those on a budget. A gaming PC can cost anywhere from $1000-$6,000 without peripherals (mouse, keyboard, etc.) or a proper desk and chair, according to tech retail vendor Best Buy.
However the Lynchburg eSports room on campus only charges a general access fee of $30 a year for security and upkeep purposes.
The room offers ergonomic gaming chairs, brand-new gaming computers with highly responsive monitors, as well as peripherals and headsets, or if you prefer to bring your own, that is also accepted.
In addition to the PCs, there are two VR headsets currently used for the Collegiate iRacing League, which the club actively participates in. Other games currently offered on the PCs include but are not limited to: League of Legends, Rocket League, CS:GO, and Valorant.
Belayachi said, “I want people to know that even if they don’t think there is a video game for them, there definitely is. Just come on out and try it!”
The Try Day event will take place from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20 in the eSports room under the Rainsford Townhouses, next to Domino’s. For any additional information, please contact club president Hannah Belayachi.
