This past weekend, the Lynchburg men’s lacrosse team traveled to Ferrum University to kick off their season. The Hornets did it in dominating fashion with a 25-1 victory to start the year off 1-0 overall as well as 1-0 in ODAC play.

Lynchburg was led by senior Kyle Lewis who piled up seven points in the win. Other key contributors on offense were freshman Charlie Evans racking up four points and Logan Zimnoch, Brett Rogers, Logan Lamon and Ian McCarthy all having three point days. The balanced attack led the Hornets to a dominating performance over the Panthers in all statistical categories.

Lynchburg did not only dominate on offense but in all aspects of the game with freshman Darren Palma causing three turnovers, sophomore Michael Kraus picking up five ground balls and freshman Andrew Thomas leading the goalie effort with three saves.

Senior Lewis said, “It was a great team effort where everyone was able to get into the game and contribute.”

The Hornets played all active players in the win against Ferrum.

Lewis also said, “Each day we go out and try to be the best version of ourselves and we as a team are always trying to get better. We know it is a long season but it is nice to start the year off right and now it is time to focus on Greensboro.”

The Hornets will face off in the home opener against Greensboro College on Feb. 19th at 1:00 p.m. at University of Lynchburg.

Senior Tyler Kuni said, “It is always exciting to see everyone get into the game and contribute but now we have to focus on the next game. We know we have a tough schedule all year long but we will focus on one opponent at a time.”

Lynchburg will stay sixth in the USILA polls this week leading up to their first home game of the year.
