Hopwood Hall columns – University of Lynchburg | Kipp Teague
I will never forget my first semester at the University of Lynchburg. As I started my freshman year in August of 2023, I had no idea what to expect or what was in store for me in the forthcoming years.
That first semester was full of ups and downs. I met friends I still have today, learned how to be independent and partook in many late-night Sheetz runs.
I also experienced all-night study sessions, where things still didn’t make sense in the morning light, endless friendship drama, missing my family and pets and even failing my first class ever.
As I am in my final fall semester, I often feel eerily similar to how I did in 2023. A lot of things have changed since I first arrived here and despite having spent the past four years here, I still have moments of uncertainty, loneliness and aimlessness.
Whether this is your first semester here or your last, I hope that, in those moments of uncertainty, you can look to The Critograph and feel seen by the stories we tell and the voices we uplift.
Since 1915, this publication has been the voice of this campus community. It has done so through wars, economic collapses, name changes and pandemics.
I found my home at this school because of the voice The Critograph gave me. I hope it can give you that as well.
