On March 23 and 24, the Lynchburg College men’s golf team travelled to play at the Montgomery Cup sponsored by Rosemont College.

The first round of competition was held on March 23 in Downingtown, Pa. LC was led that day by upperclassmen Josh Irby and Brandon Terrell. Irby got his momentum in the later round scoring a 1-over 73.

Terrell also had a strong performance; he produced an even-par 72 that morning and a 77 that afternoon. The overall team score was 303, which landed LC in third after the first day of competition that Saturday.

That Sunday the 24, LC teed-off against York College for the second round. During this round, LC recorded new program records by achieving the lowest 36-hole tournament score as well as lowest team round. The total team score was 278, which beat the previous score of 280 by only two points.

With this score LC landed third place again and advanced to the championship round, which was unfortunately cancelled due to weather conditions.

The next game for LC will be home at the Lynchburg Invitational. This is set to be held on April 2 and 3 at the Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst, Va, with each round beginning at 8:30 a.m.
