A Lynchburg College delegation of 16 students participated in the 2018 Model United Nations simulation led by Dr. Sabita Manian, professor of international relations and political science.
This is the 41st delegation that LC has sent to the event. Schools from around the world send students to the simulation to represent the 193 countries that are a part of the UN. This year, LC represented Luxembourg for the week-long simulation. There were over 5,500 participants in this year’s Model UN.
“This class is not like any other course at LC. Dr. Manian transformed us into diplomats within a few months, and it paid off. We were well prepared and won several awards. I enjoyed every single second of being part of of this esteemed delegation,” said Logan Hancock, a senior political science major.

LC received seven awards; five were for individual student position papers which were developed from January through March. The college also won an outstanding delegation award (within a general assembly committee) and an honorable mention award given to the entire delegation.
Junior international relations and criminology double major, Imani Anusiem, a veteran of the model UN said, “This was my second year as a delegate at the NMUN Conference, and it was even better than the last time. Meeting people from different schools and different countries and working together has given me more insight into the world than any traditional classroom could. I am so thankful that I got to participate again.”
