As the crisp autumn air settles over the University of Lynchburg,  the fall sports season has started with much enthusiasm and excitement.  From Shelly to the cross-country trails, student-athletes and their coaches are gearing up for a semester of success.

Jake Reed, head coach for Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, already has some expectations in mind for the team on how to create joy within the journey as their way of pursuing success.

“The focus is to balance stressors in our lives and come together to enjoy the gift of running that we’ve been given.  If we execute the process at a high level and truly have fun doing it, I know we will be successful,” said Coach Reed.

Coming off a very successful 2023 season, Lynchburg Men’s Soccer is constantly working to better themselves and their program. Their head coach, Chris Yeager, encourages the team to focus on the now to reach their future goals and cherish their time with the team.

“Right now, a quote we like to remind the team is: be where your feet are.  We are trying to get them to focus on where they are on the field, in the classroom, or basically where they are at that moment.  Enjoy the journey because it goes quickly,” said Yeager.

Taking on the head coach position for the first time this year for Lynchburg Field Hockey, Jenni Releford is ready to take the team to the next level and work hard to get there.

“We are excited for the unknown with new strategies, formations, players, and coaches,” she said. 

As anticipation begins to build for how these teams fare throughout their surely successful season, Lynchburg Sports is confident in its choice of coaches to help them achieve success.
