Within one week of the beginning of their season, Lynchburg men’s tennis is off to a swinging start with a 3-0 streak. Predicted to be seventh in the ODAC preseason poll, the hornets defeated Randolph-Macon College (No.9), and Ferrum College (No.12), as well as William Peace University.

On the No.5 singles and No.3 doubles team, Patricio Zepeda has been able to use the wins to his advantage as they progress in the season.

“It feels pretty good to have two wins under our belt, and it helps build confidence for future matches,” he said.

Playing doubles with his brother, Christian Zepeda has also seen success early this season. Being able to set goals is what motivates him to continue to get better as matches continue.

“A personal goal for me this year is to get either All-ODAC first team and/or ODAC player of the year,” said Zepeda.

With the match against Averett this Saturday, who were voted No.2 in the ODAC preseason poll, being postponed, Lynchburg men’s tennis has a full season of competition ahead of them.

“We now have this last week to practice hard at the courts and lift to go into our annual Spring Break trip with a lot of confidence,” said Christian.
