Welcome Back Hornets, Faculty and Staff!
The University of Lynchburg campus is buzzing with excitement as we kick off the 2023-2024 school year and The Critograph is ready to capture the vibrance of our campus through our storytelling as we embark on the 108th volume of the newspaper.
As we get ready for a new year, I am thrilled to welcome a brand new staff to the newsroom under the leadership of editor-in-chief, senior Communication Studies major, Alyssa Wilson. As we gear up for an incredible year of growth and learning, let’s look at what’s in store.
New Faces & New Beginnings:
Join us as we welcome all the Class of 2027, faculty and staff who have joined our community. We can’t wait to infuse your perspectives into our storytelling. We know your contributions will enrich the diversity of our campus community. We welcome you to submit your contributions and thoughts to the Critograph for publication.
Upcoming Events:
Mark your calendars as we prepare for a semester of transformative events, including the Courageous Conversations hosted by the Office of Equity and Inclusion, Homecoming, Parents and Family Weekend, Hill City Pride and the Virginia 10 Miler among others. Keep your eyes peeled for our coverage when the paper is published on Wednesdays at 12 p.m. so you won’t miss out on these events.
Community Spotlight:
We will continue to shine a spotlight on the exceptional Hornets who are transforming our campus community. As we tackle the challenges ahead on campus, locally and nationally, The Critograph staff will endeavor to accurately capture not just the culture of our campus but of the country.
Won Nation:
After a successful spring semester, University of Lynchburg Athletics is gearing up for an action packed season. Come show your support at their games, check our sports section for ongoing coverage. Shout out to Lynchburg Baseball for winning the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship in June.

As you ease into the semester and juggle the demands of the classroom, we encourage you to get involved. Whether it’s student government, joining a club, participating in community service or contributing to the campus newspaper, Lynchburg provides a space for everyone to leave an indelible mark on our community.

Our city is changing and has become a vibrant community that has been intentional about creating spaces for students. Check out the Outdoor Leadership Program’s schedule of events. get downtown, explore the Blackwater Creek Trail, visit the Legacy Museum of African American History and indulge at The Backyard in Forest. The city has so much to see and offer.
