The Lynchburg Environmental Sustainability Society (LESS), held their annual Sustainability Fair last Thursday and featured 10 vendors from Lynchburg.
LESS is dedicated to keeping the University of Lynchburg environmentally conscious.
Vendors included small businesses selling vintage t-shirts to baked goods. Jeanna Burdge, LESS member said, “I love seeing all the vendors and everything that they have to offer.”
Sara Tanjala of Viridian Reverie was one of the vendors. One of Tanjala’s bestsellers are the glass necklaces that she makes. The glass is collected from the James River and is sanded down and molded into a necklace. Tanjala commented,” I love to take things from nature and give it a new life and a new purpose.”
Mia’s Sweets sold varying kinds of treats from brownies to lemon bars. Amanda Bodnar, the owner of Mia’s Sweets, said, “A portion of our proceeds go to various nonprofits in Lynchburg. Right now, our charity helps first responders and the fire department. We’ve also partnered with Humankind…Giving back to the community is very important to continue sustainability, as well as just being kind.”
