As spring blooms, the University of Lynchburg is buzzing with activities and opportunities for students to get involved during the next seven days.
The Outdoor Leadership Program will host a free sunset hike April 13 at 5:00 p.m. In an email, Coordinator of Outdoor Leadership Programs Timothy Slusser stated, “Hornets Grab your Camera and Join the Outdoor Leadership Program as we hike to see the sunset at Humpback Rocks. We will leave campus at 5:00. There is no cost for this trip.” Students can sign up: https://linktr.ee/UofL_OLP.
In Greek Life, Tri Sigma is hosting a Plant Your Roots event. Membership Recruitment Director Brianna Lee campus-wide email said, “The sisters of Tri Sigma invite you to paint a flower pot and pick out a plant Friday, April 15, @ 6:00 p.m. on the Koudelka Family Balcony (third floor of Drysdale).” Students are encouraged to RSVP to ensure they have enough supplies!
Student Employment Appreciation Week will wrap up on April 15, 2022, at 8:00 p.m with a student appreciation party. Student Employment Program Coordinator Seisha S. Cunningham invited students to meet in the Ballroom from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. to celebrate.
On April 18, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., the Dr. Lester Spring Turner Talk will occur. In an email sent out to the whole school, Dr. Adam W. Dean, the history department chair, invited all undergraduates to attend, stating, “A week from today, on Monday, April 18 at 6:00 pm, Arizona State University English Professor Dr. Neal Lester will be speaking in the Hall Campus Center Ballroom at the University of Lynchburg. The presentation is entitled ‘Straight Talk About the N-word.’ Dr. Lester is a renowned teacher-scholar and public intellectual. He has been interviewed by hundreds of local, national, and international channels and publications, including CNN. Please join us.”
Lastly, on April 19, 2022, the Career and Professionalism Center will be hosting Cap’n It Off from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in the West Room according to Career & Internship Counselor Kara Douglas.
While the University of Lynchburg is hosting all these events, students need to balance their academic workload, find the right event or organization to get involved in that suits them, and be on their best behavior.
