The Women’s Track & Field program here at Lynchburg College has added on to their program’s history. On Saturday, April 22, they brought home another ODAC Championship title. This was the first title for their program since 2011 and their 9th overall.

The women won with a total 195 points, which was 30 points over the second-placed Bridgewater College. They placed in four individual championships as well, which helped lead them to the overall title.

Starting off for the lady Hornets was junior Endasia Mitchell, who won the 400-meter dash by a close second. Following Mitchell was graduate student Natalie Deacon. Deacon cinched the first place title in the 800-meter run and second in both the 1,500 and 5,000-meter races. First year Kaitlyn Johnson added to her resume by winning the 10,000-meter run, half a minute faster than the second place runner.

Coach Jim Sprecher won Coach of the Year on the women’s side and his first title since being named the director of the Cross Country and Track & Field team.

Next up for a few of the athletes is the Penn Relays held in Philadelphia, PA which will be announced later in the week.
