This weekend, the Lynchburg College women’s softball team split a doubleheader with the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets.

R-MC was ranked fourth in the nation and was on a 21-game winning streak until LC brought that to an abrupt halt. The first game ended in extra innings where LC took the lead and won 6-5.

The game-winning run came from sophomore designated player, Sarah Commons, while junior pitcher, Taylor Belknap, held the Yellow Jackets scoreless in the last 1 ⅔ innings.

The next game went to R-MC with a 7-0 win. The Hornets had only two hits during this game with a total of 23 at bat. R-MC had a total of seven hits for the game and scored the same amount of runs.

The win against R-MC in the first game of the doubleheader gave LC an overall of 17-9 with a conference record of 3-5.

LC will be back in action on April 4 at Guilford College at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and on April 7 at home against Bridgewater College at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
