Luke Pell, from season 12 of ABC’s The Bachelorette, began his music tour on Friday, Feb. 23 at Phase 2 Dining & Entertainment located in downtown Lynchburg, VA. Not only did Pell grab the attention of those who watched the show because of his good looks, but because of his charming personality as well.

Those who are familiar with The Bachelorette say they cannot get enough. Lynchburg College women’s lacrosse assistant coach, Colleen Ekert, said she started watching the show during her senior year of high school.

“A lot of my friends would come into school talking about it and I had to see what all the hype was about. I watched one episode and was hooked,” said Ekert.

Those who are less familiar with the show seem to be pulled into watching it by female family members. Dr. Roux, associate professor of communication studies at LC, recalls the first time he heard of the show.

“I watched it for the first time with my mother-in-law who has been a devoted fan since the beginning of the show. We watched it when she was over at the house visiting a couple years back,” said Dr. Roux.

Luke Pell performing in Lynchburg may have come as a surprise to his fans; however, Jessica Perkins, executive assistant with Lynchburg Concerts was confident in Pell’s decision to come to Lynchburg.

“He accepted because of a combination of the existing relationship with the agent, an enticing offer and a well organized, effective sales pitch. There is an ongoing relationship between our company and Luke’s agent, who represents many other artists, and we work with this agent on many shows on an annual basis,” said Perkins.

Pell is a newer country singer, which influenced Phase 2 to bring him to Lynchburg and according to Perkins, “We thought he was a unique talent that would resonate well in the Lynchburg market. It seemed like a show that would bring a fun experience to all those in attendance.”
