On Sunday, Dec. 3, the College Football Playoff Committee announced the playoff picture for the national championship, and it’s everything one could hope for. Arguably the four best college teams in the nation are set for action in two highly-anticipated contests.

In one game, we have a national championship rematch from last year. That’s right, the number one team, Clemson Tigers, will be facing the number four team, Alabama Crimson Tide. If you happened to forget, the past two years these two teams have faced off for the national championship. In the first setting, it was Alabama who claimed victory over Clemson, but in the following year, Clemson got their revenge. The history surrounding Alabama and Clemson makes this a must-see matchup, especially with so much on the line. Both teams know each other very well, but this tiebreaker puts everything on the line for both squads.

Though we already have a primetime matchup between Clemson and Alabama, the other playoff game is nothing to sleep on. In the other matchup, it will be the number two team, Oklahoma Sooners, playing against the number three team, Georgia Bulldogs. Even though the intensity of a rivalry is not present in this matchup, there is no love lost between these two teams either. Both team see incredible talent in Baker Mayfield and Nick Chubb. Mayfield, from Oklahoma, has made the point of being named the 2017 Heisman player of the year on numerous occasions. While Chubb, from Georgia, hasn’t made as much Heisman noise as Mayfield, he has been in the talks and rightfully claimed his position as one of, if not the best, college running back this year. With these two talents going head-to-head it’ll be exciting to see who comes out on top.
