On Saturday, Oct. 21, Homecoming Weekend flooded Lynchburg College with alumni from every sports team on campus. While we celebrated the alumni this weekend, we also commemorated the seniors from the Field Hockey team and Men’s Soccer team on their senior night. Both teams played home against Randolph-Macon College and came out with wins.

The Field Hockey team defeated R-MC 9-0 and recognized five seniors: forward Lacey Elliott, midfielder Karissa LeMaire and defenders Hannah Krause, Molly Carr and Kristina Geisler.

Scoring for the lady hornets was led by junior midfielder Nikki Simpao with four goals. Alongside Simpao were first-year forward Jackie Lerro with two, junior forward Isabella Eldridge, first-year midfielder Emma Strouse and LeMarie, all with one goal of their own.

The next game for Field Hockey will be on Oct. 25 at Roanoke College at 7 p.m.

Men’s Soccer played after Field Hockey on Saturday night and defeated R-MC 2-1. They recognized eight seniors, which included goalkeepers Ian Campbell and Sam Cannon; midfielders Nate Berning and Ryan Mayolo; forwards Collin Kashmer, Jon Mackey and Fredy Flores and defender Cameron Noonan.

Mackey and Flores each scored a goal for the Hornets against R-MC. Mackey’s goal resulted from a penalty kick which put him at a total of seven goals for his last season at LC.

The last regular season game for the Men’s Soccer team will be on Oct. 24 at Virginia Wesleyan College.

Both the Field Hockey team and Men’s Soccer team will also be looking forward to the ODAC (Old Dominion Athletic Conference) Championship after earning overall records of 14-3 and 14-1-1, respectively, with each team having one regular season game left.
