Off to a Swinging Start

The Lynchburg College women’s softball team kicked off their 2018 season with a double header against Methodist University on Sunday, Feb. 18 at Liberty University.

The games were held at LU due to weather and the condition of the field here at LC. Nevertheless, LC defeated Methodist in both games. Read more

Lynchburg Goes Mediterranean

The latest restaurant slated to open in Lynchburg will be opening its doors on February 22. Rozana Mediterranean Grill will be located on Fort Avenue and will replace the former Sakura Japanese Steak and Seafood House.

The owner, Jamal Liftawi, previously helped open a Mediterranean restaurant in Roanoke, VA last October and has helped manage restaurants in other states as well. Read more

Iron and Ale

After months of anticipation, Iron and Ale has finally opened its doors to the public. The American-style restaurant is located in Cornerstone, across from the Greenville “T-Room.”

Iron and Ale is the first of its kind for the Lynchburg area. It is a taproom that boasts over 40 different tap beers, but also offers several wines and cocktails on tap as well. The menu is extensive, including an array of appetizers and entrees that can tickle a multitude of fancies. Read more

Lights of Lynchburg Past

Lynchburg Parks and Recreation will host their second annual Celebration of Lights at Riverside Park  from Dec. 1, 2017 through Jan. 1, 2018. The park will be open nightly from 5 to 9 p.m. This event is free for everyone to attend and is a drive-through event. Read more

Third Wave Coffee will be hosting Lynchburg’s very first latte art competition on Saturday, December 2, from 8 to 10 p.m.

The coffee shop is located in Forest and area baristas will compete to create the best latte art. The baristas are coming from area favorites such as White Hart and Blackwater Coffee Company. Read more

Larcenies in Lynchburg

Lynchburg, Virginia – Dozens of larcenies have been reported in the city’s residential areas. Between August and November, the Lynchburg Police Dept. has made multiple arrests. The larcenies occurred in areas such as Memorial Ave., Old Forest Rd., and Mansfield Ave. Read more

Handmade for the Holidays

The Hill City Handmade will be hosting its Holiday Market this Saturday, Nov. 4. The event is being held at the Urban Arts Garage located in Downtown Lynchburg at 1001 Commerce Street. Doors open for Early Bird ticket holders at 9 a.m. and to the public at 11 a.m., and the event will wrap up at 5 p.m. Read more

Bold Rock Barrel Barn Opens its Doors

Bold Rock Cidery has made a name for itself on the Nelson 151 Trail and beyond. They have continued to be a success since their opening in 2010. Bold Rock is celebrating this success with a grand opening for their “new” Barrel Barn on Saturday, Oct. 28.

What started as a production barn several years ago has been converted into an intimate tap room and small batch crafting facility. Read more

Halloween Happenings in Central Virginia

There are many upcoming Halloween and fall festivities in the Lynchburg area. These events include Scaremare, Candlelight tours and a Haunted Harvest Cornfield.

Scaremare, hosted by Liberty University, will be running Oct. 19-21 and Oct. 26-28. The event is known for its funhouse rooms and scenes of death which raise questions of what happens after we die. Each trip through Scaremare lasts approximately 40 minutes. The gates open at 7:30 p.m. and remain open through 11 p.m. Students who show their college ID on Thursday nights will receive discounted tickets for $5 apiece. Tickets can be purchased at the gates with cash only. The event is being hosted at 2300 Carroll Ave., Lynchburg, Va. 24501.
