After much success this spring season, sophomore Joe Munitz was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Week for Lynchburg Baseball after achieving a .588 batting average in his previous four games.

Munitz credits his coaches and teammates for the success he has had this season with the Hornets, who are currently on a six-game win streak and ranked fourth overall in Division III.

“It’s an honor to be recognized as ODAC player of the week, but I know my teammates and coaches are also a big part of my success as a player, and I have them to thank as well,” Munitz said.

Assistant coach Michael Solbach accredits Munitz’s success this season to his diligence and willingness to help his team.

“Joe has been great to have on our team and represent our program the last two years,” said Solbach. “He is a very hard worker and does anything asked of him to help our team win.”

Munitz’s teammates also spoke about the impact that he has had on the team this season. Senior outfielder/pitcher Bryce Demory reflected on Munitz’s attention to detail and the impact it has had on the team, who currently lead their region with a 32-5 record.

“Joe is always finding ways to improve his game every day and it shows when the team needs him to step up in games,” Demory noted.

Munitz is coming off of his best four-game stretch of the season, which include back-to-back victories against Bridgewater College, where Munitz contributed 7 RBIs across both games.

The Hornets erupted for 51 runs against the Eagles, winning both games 30-2 and 21-10, respectively.
