Professor Sandy Glass joins the College of Business faculty at Lynchburg as the newest professor in accounting and finance.
Glass has an MBA from the University of Lynchburg and brings experience from private industry and academia.
She is currently completing her doctorate at Liberty University.
: Sweet Briar Professor Joins University of LynchburgGlass said, “I reached a point in my career where it wasn’t fulfilling, and I wanted to give back, so I started working on my doctorate.”
She loves teaching and once she found out a position was opening at her alma mater, it was an opportunity impossible to pass up.
Her current research focuses on small businesses and their access to funds from the Payback Protection Program during the early phases of the pandemic.
This semester she is teaching two finance classes and one accounting class.
In the spring of 2022, she will teach ACCT 202, principles of accounting II, ACCT 325, management accounting, and FIN 320, finance after college.
While Professor Glass loves teaching accounting, she has a passion for personal finance.
Glass believes FIN 320 helps students understand creating a budget, personal taxes, retirement planning, and insurance.
Kevin Arrington, department chair, helped lead the hiring process which included 60-70 applicants, and was then narrowed down to about four before choosing Glass.
“She was hired with the help of a combination of background, being local, and experiences with a good teaching demonstration,” said Arrington.
The newest addition has received positive feedback from students and faculty and has enjoyed her time while only being here for one semester.
The College of Business was incorporated in 2019 when Lynchburg College became the University of Lynchburg and its mission is to engage students through active learning to build character and advance knowledge.
