The newest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was recently released and was dedicated to the late Chadwick Boseman.

Wakanda Forever was a long awaited sequel to the Black Panther movie from 2018 and had many fans concerned.

With the unexpected passing of Boseman, who played the original Black Panther, many fans of the Marvel movies were wondering how they would continue with the storyline.

What was proven with this movie was that Boseman’s legacy, while difficult to live up to, will never die.

With many of the original actors returning, there were also many new faces that made their premier along with brand new and beloved characters from the comics.

The movie itself takes place a year after the death of T’challa, who died from an unnamed disease.

While Wakanda has continued to prosper, there are still countries around the world that fear their power,

This does not change when the villain, Namor, played by Tenoch Huerta, attacks a rig searching for vibranium with others from his kingdom.

Namor has been an on-again-off-again hero and villain in the comics, and was the first mutant to be introduced into the comics, as well, was the second mutant to be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The movie does the mutant justice, making him just as formidable as he is in the comics.

As well, Wakanda and Namor’s underwater kingdom, Talokan, share a relationship with vibranium, the mineral that gives both kingdoms their unique attributes and technologies.

However, this connection also brings both kingdoms into direct conflict with one another, as Namor wishes to keep his kingdom secret from the rest of the world, and kill anyone who would potentially harm them.

Eventually, the resulting fight between the two kingdoms floods Wakanda, and results in the death of Queen Rhomanda, played by Angela Bassett, the acting sovereign of Wakanda.

With Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, being the remaining member of the royal family, she decides to take revenge on Namor.

She throws herself into recreating the herb that gives the Black Panther their powers, and takes up the mantle to fight against Namor and his forces.

While there was some disappointment on who became the new Black Panther, Shuri kept to the legacy set and showed mercy to Namor, which resulted in a stalemate between the two warring nations.

Going into the movie, there was some fear that the legacy created by Boseman would not be upheld, seeing as how the past two Marvel movies were more than underwhelming.

However, Wakanda Forever goes far beyond the expectations set, and honors Boseman’s passing in a way no other movie could.

With so many reveals and introductions, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is a must see movie this year.
