Gubernatorial Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe has been on the campaign trail across the state and his next stop will be to the University of Lynchburg’s campus to speak students about his campaign and tell students to get out to vote on Nov. 2.
The Student Government Association (SGA) and University of Lynchburg Democrats club are partnering together to bring McAuliffe to campus on Wednesday, Oct. 27. The event will take place outside of the first floor lobby at Drysdale Student Center at 3:45pm.
University of Lynchburg Democrats member, Alla Daniel said, “I’m very excited for this opportunity and to get to see Terry come out to Lynchburg to promote his campaign. I hope this event will be a great way to get students out to vote.”
SGA president, Matthew Gillett said, “The Student Government Association is proud to partner with one of our clubs and organizations on campus, UL Dems. One of the key pillars of student government is promoting civic engagement and public service. This is a great opportunity for all hornets to hear from one of the candidates for governor in the upcoming election. Virginia is at the center stage in the national political conversation right now and all hornets registered in Virginia should make sure they vote. This year SGA took the initiative to invite both major candidates for governor. We are honored to welcome former governor McAuliffe to campus this Wednesday.”
The university is eager to host the Democratic candidate and is continuing to invite the Republican candidate as well to give students a chance to hear both candidates’ sides and give them the responsibility to vote for who they think will do the best for Virginia.
