UofL Women’s B-Ball on a Win Streak

     The University of Lynchburg Women’s Basketball team won its third straight game with a 21-point trouncing over Eastern Mennonite University by a final score of 82-61 on Monday, Nov. 25, 2019.  This was their second straight ODAC Conference win since they beat another ODAC rival, Hollins University, by a score of 73-60 on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019. There winning streak started on Saturday, November 16, 2019 against Colorado College by a score of 76-64 at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia.

    As third-year guard for the Lady Hornets, Maggie Quarles mentioned, “We are capable of being a great team!  When we are playing together as a team, we have a balanced attack and demonstrate our grit and toughness at getting the job done and pulling out a win.”

 

    Three Lady Hornets showed their shooting accuracy in the past three games. Second-year forward, Erin Green, scored a career-high of 24 points and came up with 12 rebounds in the win against Colorado College. Second-year forward, Abby Oguich ,scored a career-high 12 points and came up with 9 rebounds in the win against Hollins University. And, Quarles scored a season-high of 24 points in the win against Eastern Mennonite University.

 

    “The three past wins have been solid.  When we communicate successfully and give that extra effort for each other, we become a stronger ‘team’ unit. We are better when we attack and defend together, playing for each player on this team,” says fourth-year guard, Carolyn Noe.

 

     Today, Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019 the team travels only a short distance to play our cross-town rivals, Randolph College, in another ODAC matchup at 7:00 p.m.  Next, the Lady Hornets will be playing at home for the last time in the year of 2019 against Emory & Henry College on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. This is the team’s CODE RED game, so please come out to support the team wearing red. The game will be played on Wayne Proffitt Court in the Turner Gymnasium.  Please come out to support your Lady Hornets!  

 

     Then, the Lady Hornets will end the year of 2019 at the Daytona Beach Shootout in Daytona Beach, Florida against Hood College on Friday, Dec. 20, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. and against Marymount University (Va.) on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019.
