Scaremare tickets are being sold by the Student Activities Board for $5 at the Hub in Drysdale.
In an email sent on Oct. 17, on behalf of the Student Activities Board by B.J. Keefer to the University of Lynchburg students, tickets will be sold until Wednesday, Oct. 23rd, 2019.
Scaremare is an event held in downtown Lynchburg in an old hospital located on 2300 Carroll Avenue. The event takes place during the month of October, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. According to the Scaremare website, the event has been taking place “since 1972, with more than 300,000 people from several states making the trip through the House of Death,” and “thousands of volunteer hours from Liberty students, with a cast of 300 Liberty students to operate the house each night.”
The mission of the event is to “present fun-rooms and scenes of death in order to confront people with the question of ‘What happens after we die?’” Following the end of the Scaremare experience, “visitors are presented with an answer to this question and given the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.”
When students around campus were asked if they had attended the event, or if they would be interested in attending the event, this is what they had to say:
Daniel Hummel, senior, said, “No, I feel like I would not go to Scaremare…mainly because I am too scared of things like that. I would probably pee my pants or something. With that said, I could see why students would be interested in attending, and I think it is a good idea.”
Elena Fergusson, also a senior, said, “Yes! I attended the event last October with a group of friends. I went with zero expectations of the event and was completely blown away. It was definitely scary, but I had such a fun time. I look forward to going again this year.”
Christa Walker, the public relations and marketing director of the Students Activities Board said, “In addition to the discounted tickets being sold for Scaremare, we have an upcoming event on [Oct. 22], featuring Ghost Hunter and Medium Chris Fleming. This event will dive into Chris’s own paranormal investigations and how he became familiar with spirits while concluding with our own paranormal hunt around campus!”
Scaremare opens at 7:30 p.m. and lasts until 11:00 p.m. every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday until Oct. 26. Normally tickets sell for $10, so be sure to stop by the Hub to get your discounted ticket before they run out.
