This past week, the fraternities of the University of Lynchburg held fall rush week. The fraternities on campus include Phi Kappa Tau, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sigma Nu and Phi Mu Delta.
Each night of the week, the fraternities held their own rush events to recruit new members with a high turnout. Phi Kappa Tau held events such as Hot Dogs and Brauts, Jump Lynchburg, Dodgeball in Wakefield House, Snowflex, and ended it with an invite dinner on Friday.
Phi Kappa Tau ended the week on Saturday with five new members who participated in the bid walk.
Sigma Phi Epsilon’s rush schedule included: Football Watch Party, Zipline with the Brothers, Pickup Basketball, Poker Night and ended it on Friday with an invite dinner as well. Sigma Phi Epsilon ended their rush on Saturday with two new members who also participated in the bid walk.
Sigma Nu events for rush week included: Milkshakes and Handshakes, Ultimate Frisbee, Jackbox.Tv Games, Arcade (K)night and ended with the invite dinner on Friday. On Saturday, Sigma Nu had eight new members participate in bid walk.
And lastly, the rush schedule for Phi Mu Delta included: Yard Games, Smash Tournament, Bonfire, Casino Night and end it with the PMDinner on Friday. They had one new member who participated in the Saturday bid walk.
Most events were held at each individual fraternity’s chapter house which can be found in Greek Row on Vernon Street.
Fall rush was a successful week for the fraternities as they gained a total of 16 new members in fraternity life at the University of Lynchburg. Fraternity life on campus includes community service events, fundraising for philanthropies, greek unity events, and more.
Inter-Fraternity Council oversees all functions of fraternity life here on campus at the University of Lynchburg, such as events like rush week. Rush week is done each semester, so look out for events posted in the spring. All fraternities on campus at the University of Lynchburg have 365 recruitment. This means that any fraternity can give any student that is eligible a bid during any time of the school year.
To be eligible to receive a bid from a fraternity, a student must be classified as a second semester freshman, be in good standing with the University of Lynchburg, and maintain a QPA of 2.5 or higher. There will be monthly recruitment events held by each fraternity, so be sure to check out those events.

The Inter-Fraternity Council members include Luis Lastra as IFC president, Seiya Nomura as Vice President of External Affairs, Nathaniel Pierce as Director of Community Relations, Mark Twomey as Director of Recruitment, and Geoffrey Murphy as Director of Membership Development.
