Matthew Gillett ~ Director of Public Relations.

Here at the University of Lynchburg, we are granted with many excellent opportunities. We are lucky to have some of the finest faculty and staff in the country. We are also lucky to have some of the greatest students in the country. It is you as hornets who make our school what it is! The University of Lynchburg Student Government Association is proud to represent your voices as hornets and we look forward to continuing to serve you!

However, the Student Government Association is not looking for the University of Lynchburg to remain stagnant. Our institution can only remain excellent if everyone works together to make it the best it can be. Currently the Student Government Association is looking for ways to help you be informed, but more importantly, to get feedback from you. We have many new and exciting initiatives taking place this year.

Starting last Friday, we reinstated Feedback Fridays in Drysdale! Feedback Fridays are a perfect time for you to let us know what you think about campus. It is also really easy to take part in this feedback opportunity! All you have to do is come to Drysdale between 12:30 and 1:30 P.M. on Friday and talk to a Student Government Association representative. This lets us know important information about all the Hornet’s needs on campus! If you stop by you can also get a free magnet or sticker for filling out the survey! We look forward to seeing you!

Our website lynchburg.edu/sga is also an excellent resource for submitting feedback and learning more about what the Student Government Association does! On our website you can find great tools such as information about what the Student Government Association is doing on campus, learn about the Executive Cabinet, find the proper forms to become an organization on campus, and pertinent information regarding budgets for student organizations on campus. make sure you check it out!

Another vital aspect of the Student Government Association is our Student Senate. The Student Senate is the legislative body on campus. As a hornet, you all have representation on Student Senate through either your residence as well as if you are a part of a recognized club or organization on campus! Your Senator can also bring issues you have on campus to the forefront by creating legislation to be voted on. If you do not know who your senator is, just email sga@lynchburg.edu to find out! However, you do not have to be a Senator to attend a Student Senate meeting. Student Senate meetings are open to all members of the University of Lynchburg Community. Student Senate meetings take place every Monday at 5:30 P.M. in Schewel Hall room 217. However, if you are unable to attend Student Senate meetings, we are proud to announce that we will now post all of our minutes to all Student Senate meetings online on our website under the SGA forms and resources tab.

Finally make sure you follow the Student Government Association on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook so that you can stay up to date on all the events, legislation, and campus issues that the Student Government Association is addressing! Also, look out for campus-wide emails from the Student Government Association email, they will contain important information you will not want to miss!

We look forward to hearing from you! Remember, it is a great day to be a Hornet!
