All it takes is something simple, like waking up too late, having to rush around in the morning because you forgot about an assignment that was due, or forgetting your notebook for one of your classes. In that one sudden instant, a day at college can go from being one of the greatest days to being one that you just want to be done with so you can go back to sleep for the rest of the day.

To tell you the truth, from my perspective of being in college for two years: college is not always glorious. It is not always going to be full of laughter and happiness. Some days are often filled with stress and business that can be hard to keep up with, especially if you have a job, a sport you play, or other extracurricular activities. When the hustle and bustle of being busy and one day becomes two days or five days or even ten days, it can feel like life is working against you. I know that there have been days for me where all I can think is, “Can I please just get a break from everything?”

Even though college can be filled with all sorts of emotions, both positive and negative, it is important to remember that you are here for a reason that you decided. You were meant to be here in these moments and to enjoy the positives and negatives. No matter how you feel, know that you are not alone because many, if not all, college students experience these same feelings. Although life will confront you with struggles, there are reasons behind why you have stayed and why you have not decided to quit.

College is not made for everyone, and there is really nothing wrong with that. Although college can be discouraging at times, I have to keep reminding myself that my hard work will pay off when I am doing something in my life that I truly love. I also have to remind myself that it is helping me toward my future career goals. My life would not be the same without the experiences I have had and the friendships I have made while here at the University of Lynchburg.

So, I can tell you, your days will not always be perfect in college. Rarely any day is perfect, but some days are better than worse. It can be tough, but it is also made for tough people. Your dreams are waiting for you after the long days of projects, homework, and exams. Each day will not be quite like college is depicted in the movies, but that is a good thing because it is a reality check. You are living your story, not someone else’s life. Stay determined, and do not ever give up. Trust me, something good will come out of these college experiences later in life.
