Sports Junkie: MLB’s Opening Day

Chris Snan, Staff Columnist~

March 29 marked the earliest opening day in MLB history, and it was a good one. As every baseball fan knows, opening day is always the best day of the year. Every major league team competes in nine wonderful innings, as a welcome back to their loyal fans.

For Yankees fans, opening day was even sweeter when prized offseason pickup, Giancarlo Stanton, hit a home run on his very first bat and then later on in the ninth inning. Stanton’s first game in a Yankees jersey was opening day, and he led the team with both home runs to a six to one victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. A lot of hype was put behind the addition of Stanton to Aaron Judge, as both players have proven they’re excellent hitters. The two of them make for one bad nightmare for any pitcher who faces them, and the Yankees are now one of the premier hitting teams in the league.

Things are shaping up well for New York, as well as the rest of the league. Welcome back to the sweet game of baseball, America.
