Sorority recruitment for the spring 2018 semester has begun. There are four sororities on Lynchburg College’s campus, each with their own philanthropic missions. The four sororities are Kappa Delta, Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Sigma Alpha and Sigma Sigma Sigma.

Recruitment week for sororities gives interested members an opportunity to visit all of the chapters’ houses. This allows students to experience each sorority’s culture, which allows them to make decisions based on compatibility.

Recruitment is a great way to get to know more people on campus. Going Greek has given me the opportunity to become involved and be a part of a sisterhood,” said junior Libbie Areheart of Alpha Chi Omega.

The first official recruitment night is sisterhood night, which will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 31. This will be followed by philanthropy night on Thursday. On Friday, prospective new members may be invited by the sororities for preference night.

Bid day will occur on Saturday, where students will decide on their sorority home.

This time of year makes me reminisce on the last recruitment when I went through the process and found my home. Now I get the opportunity to get to know the young women on campus and help them find a home in our Greek life,” said junior Whitney Grim of Kappa Delta.

The process of recruitment allows students to experience a different facet of campus life while forging friendships and honing their philanthropic skills.
