After only one semester, Lynchburg College has brought back El Si, a Tex-Mex restaurant, to On Common Ground (OCG), located inside of the Drysdale Student Center.
During the fall semester of 2017, El Si was replaced with a Hibachi-style Japanese fast-food restaurant called Chopsticks. Chopsticks had some tough shoes to fill as El Si had a strong reputation and appeal on campus. “I am glad they brought El Si back; a lot of students seemed like they didn’t like Chopsticks,” said senior Ashton Broughman.
On Dec. 5, 2017, the dining hall sent out an email to LC students asking for their opinion. It was a simple survey that asked whether the student preferred OCG to keep Chopsticks or bring back El Si for the 2018 spring semester. Exactly one month after the survey was sent out, Desmond Mosby, the student employment coordinator, sent out an email stating that El Si would be back and was hiring.

Then on Jan. 12, 2018, the LC Dining Hall verified that it would be bringing El Si back. Many students were thrilled to hear about this. “I think El Si is better than Chopsticks because it is easier to eat on-the-go,” said junior Scott Wade.
The employees at OCG noticed a difference with El Si’s reopening as well. “At first it was overwhelming because we had a lot more customers at El Si than at Chopsticks, but I guess that means they made the right decision bringing it back,” said junior Devyn McCabe.
