On the evening of Wednesday Jan. 10, 2018, Caroline Naumann, a senior forward for the Lynchburg College Women’s Basketball team, scored her 1,000 career-point at home against the Maroons of Roanoke College.

Naumann has been a member of the women’s basketball program for four years and is now only the 10th player to reach this milestone in the programs history. After scoring 21 points in the team’s 67-44 win against Roanoke, Naumann secured her spot alongside nine other women who have achieved this goal, including current head coach Abby Pyzik-Smith and two of her previous teammates, Shannon Allan and Charmaine Hairston.

When asked what scoring her 1,000 career-point meant and how it felt to be only the tenth player in program history to do so, Naumann stated:

“Hitting my 1,000th point was incredible because I had the opportunity to watch so many great players hit it during my time here and to join them is incredibly humbling. To be the tenth person to hit it says a lot about the program, and just how far it has come. Now there will be ten 1,000 point scorers on the board which is very cool.”

Although scoring her 1,000 career-point was a big step in her career, Naumann has also reached other program highs this season as well. This is in reference to her tying the program’s most points scored in a single game, previously held by Betty Jackson who set the record in 1983 with 35 points. Naumann matched Jackson’s record in an away game against William Peace earlier in the season.

Since scoring her 1,000 career-point and then some against Roanoke, Naumann has added seven more points after a win against Eastern Mennonite University on Jan. 13, putting her current total at 1,009 and growing.
