Horrific news struck Houston on Thursday, November 2, 2017. When rookie quarterback of the Houston Texans, Deshaun Watson, announced he tore his ACL and will be missing the remainder of the season.
Deshaun Watson was of course drafted as the 12th overall pick in the first round by the Houston Texans. A lot of promise was put behind the talent in Watson after he won his first national championship during his senior year at Clemson. Coming off a milestone like that, and behind the expertise of Clemson coach Dabo Swinney, you better believe he was going to be good.
Sure enough, Watson lived up to the hype this season as he was named the starting quarterback for the Texans. Watson had a total of 19 touchdowns over the span of seven games. With those 19 touchdowns, he was tied for the most amount of total touchdowns in the season. Carson Wentz, of the Philadelphia Eagles, was the other man head-to-head with Watson.
After the news was heard, Houston, along with many other football fans, were heartbroken. Fellow teammate, J.J. Watt, reached out to Watson and wished him well, along with many other friends, fans and loved ones. Hopefully the rookie will make a full recovery soon, and has that same fire when he returns.
