The Ugly Christmas Sweater trend has been part of the holiday season for over a decade. This year you will find that Phase 2 and Lynchburg’s Party are joining up to host an Ugly Sweater Party this Wednesday, Dec. 7. The event is the first of its kind for Phase 2, and is being held from 6 to 10 p.m.
Ugly sweaters of all shapes and sizes will be welcomed to the event, even if your sweater isn’t Christmas themed. Prizes will be awarded to the two sweaters that are deemed to be the most cringe-worthy of the evening. The winners may even find themselves with tickets to upcoming Lynchburg’s Party events.
While sipping on hot chocolate or taking pictures in the photo booth at the venue, you can take a break from finals listen to the rhythms of Indie duo Penny and Sparrow. The brothers just ended a sold-out U.S. tour and are making their Lynchburg debut.
They will be joined by Judson Harris and Storyboards, both of which are local groups coming from Liberty University. Both artists intertwine indie tunes with pop melodies.
Jonathan Slye, CEO of Lynchburg’s Party, stated that he looks forward to working with more local groups from various genres in the future so the music scene for the area will be broadened.
The Lynchburg’s Party group has been bringing a number of events to the area for local entertainment. They have put on numerous events like Lynchburg’s FOAM PARTY featuring DJ Pauly D in September, Lynchburg’s Legendary Party featuring REV RUN & DJ Ruckus in November, and they will also be putting on CLUB LC featuring DJ Promote for Lynchburg College this week.
When asked how he felt Lynchburg’s Party’s events brought the community together, Slye said “Music is a powerful tool that can bring people together.”
If you are looking to join in on the festivities Wednesday tickets are available on TicketFly. General Admission for groups is $12 and $14 for individual tickets. If you are heading that way to hear Penny and Sparrow, a $25 fee will get you a meet and greet with the band.
Proceeds from the tickets will go toward Unified in Mission, who are partnered with Lynchburg’s Party. This organization works in Uganda to provide clean water solutions for impoverished areas.
