The Lynchburg Swim Team witnessed a grand finish to their 24’-25’ season, receiving multiple accolades after the ODAC Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina. Two swimmers were named first-team All-ODAC (one male and one female), and seeing numerous first-place finishes at the championship event, the team has much to write about.

Sienna Schmeck had an outstanding freshman season, being named All ODAC First-Team after placing first in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle at the championship meet. Not letting her youth slow her down, Schmeck reflected on the season’s excitement.

“It was such an amazing feeling winning those events and knowing my hard work had paid off,” she said.

Completing his final races as a Lynchburg Hornet, senior captain Miles Fitzgerald was able to enjoy some last moments with the team at the championship meet.

“My favorite memory was probably getting the chance to talk to the whole team before every session, especially the last session. Being the captain this year has been so much fun and being able to motivate this team was really special for me,” said Fitzgerald.

As a sophomore breast/IM swimmer, Ryan Bambrick pushed himself throughout the season for the opportunity to make an appearance at the ODAC Championship meet.

“Throughout this season, I have been preparing for ODACS by giving 100% every time I could at practice. Doing this definitely helped me during those night swims when I was still tired from the morning session,” said Bambrick.

After a season-spanning around seven months, Lynchburg Swim can happily report the fruits of their labor and hard work, which have paid off over the half-year, as the team has built strong camaraderie that led them to much success in February.
