Phi Kappa Tau, a fraternity at the University of Lynchburg, hosted a dual event to support their philanthropy, Serious Fun and celebrate their annual Founder’s Day.

Serious Fun is a children’s network that sends seriously ill children to a fun camp experience, with high quality medical care.

The sun shone on the day of the event, April 1, 2023 and brought people from across campus to partake in the festivities and raise money for their philanthropy.

Phi Tau’s Founder’s Day included activities like a dunk tank, cornhole and spike ball that attendees were able to partake in. For the second year in a row, member Trevor Parker’s food truck, Uncle Bob’s and Sweet T’s, catered the event.

The event was planned by member Kyle Deedman, who holds the philanthropy chair position.

Deedman explained, “It was really fun. I mean it’s just another way to get all of our brothers out and together and active. It just really brings our whole school community together.”

“Phi Kappa Tau is to be recognized as a leadership organization that binds men together and challenges them to improve their campuses and the world,” according to the official vision statement of Phi Kappa Tau.

New member, Will Kasemeyer, experienced his first Founder’s Day with PKT. Kasemeyer recounted how exciting the experience was saying, “It’s all for the kids, it’s amazing.”

With a dunk tank, catered food, cornhole and spikeball the brothers and their attendees seemed to have fun on Saturday and were able to raise funds for the Serious Fun Children’s Network.
