On Monday night, Housing and Residence Life offered an informational meeting for students seeking to take part in the Southside Housing Process.
The process works a bit like the NFL draft system, where different groups are given priority rankings based on how many credit hours they have and their QPAs. The minimum credit hours required to live in a Southside house is 30 completed credit hours by the end of the prior fall semester. Students get to select from six-person, five-person, four-person, and three-person homes, townhouses, and apartments.
The available houses can be found at the residential portal accessible to all students through their my.lynchburg.edu site under the ‘Residential’ tab.
On the portal, students who have already filled out their Housing Intent Form to live on-campus next year will find the Southside Floor Plans Slides and Southside Housing Occupancy Sheet for their reference while consulting with their potential housemates.
During last night’s information session, Housing Director Terry Bodine said, “The most important thing is that you make sure everyone in your group has filled out the Housing Intent Form for the coming year, because without that agreement from everyone, you won’t be able to match your group and enter the process.”
Some of the benefits of living in Southside include having your own kitchen and living space. Maddy Myers ’23 said, “I use my kitchen for meal prep throughout the week and sometimes I like to have the extra space to get my work done as it makes a nice change of scenery.”
