For the first time in two years, University of Lynchburg students will be taking a much needed spring break next week.

Students have a wide range of plans, from staying on campus and catching up on homework to going to the beach and soaking up the sun.

Sophomore Jordan Mayberry is in the latter of the group of students who will be heading south for the break. Mayberry said, “Four of my friends and I are going to Panama City, Florida for a little over a week. I’m looking forward to being on the beach, making memories with friends and not doing any work.”

Sports teams at the university also have a lot in store for this break. Freshman Hannah Hillyer said, “I’m on the equestrian team and our coach has given us the opportunity to help rebuild the barn, because it’s a little run down right now. So for spring break, I’m possibly going to be helping with that.”

In addition to activities that the equestrian team is doing, the women’s lacrosse team will be going to Florida for work and play.

Carson Quigley, a freshman midfielder on the University of Lynchburg women’s lacrosse team, said, “Lacrosse team is going to Florida. Playing the two teams down in Florida will lead to team bonding.

Jack Rokenbrod, a junior and the student manager for the Lynchburg Men’s Lacrosse Team, said, “We are going to mulch the campus one day. We are going to be making a trip to Stevenson University in Md. to play two games there and then break will be over.

Rokenbrod then talked about why spring break will be important for everyone on the University of Lynchburg Men’s Lacrosse Team, stating, “It will give us a nice week to recharge our brains from an academic standpoint. We are also playing two good teams, so this will make us better on the field.”

Students hope for this break to be productive and restorative as the second half of the semester comes around.
